New Children Joining CRM

When the Child Redeemed Mission (CRM) Children’s Home in Uganda is able to accept new kids, I feel that prayers are being answered. Just imagine, a few days ago sleeping on the ground, having little to eat, no medical care or school, living ignored or worse each day, being a burden that can’t be carried any longer by the adults in your life…but now living in a happy beautiful place with dozens of kids, a bed to sleep in, 3 meals a day, people glad that you are there, and they are getting ready for you to go to school. I chose to believe that the adults in these kids lives do pray for something better for these kids and see CRM as an answer to that prayer.

First few days at CRM for Fionah, Dan, and Innocent Mutekanga.

How do new kids come to CRM? ….. The Social Workers at CRM are in contact with the District Child Officer (DCO). His job is to monitor the district and address children who are vulnerable, mistreated, and neglected. This has to be a daunting and overwhelming task. Usually neighbors report these children. Most kids are called orphans and have lost at least one parent to death and the other to inability or unwillingness to support them. When openings arise at CRM because kids finish High School the potential children needing to be removed from their situation are reviewed by the Social Workers and accepted if it is best for the kids. CRM is one of only a few registered and approved Children’s Homes in the district. The criteria to become so is steep and many many homes have been closed in Uganda over the past 5 years, over 90% of them. CRM is a special place…. a unique blend of efficient institution with a safe family atmosphere and a happy place to play, learn, and grow as a child. It is a place where Christian love is practiced, the Gospel believed, and kids are expected to grow up and have hopes and dreams.

Six new children arrived while we were at CRM in January. I love meeting new kids and knowing their lives are turning in a better direction. My favorite memories of them during the trip was noticing other kids leading them around, showing them things, playing with them, and making sure they were ok. I told the CRM Director Emma and Social Worker Gorretti that I was impressed at the love the kids show the new kids and know it is because an atmosphere of love and family is strong throughout CRM. I’m so appreciative for that!

Most of these kids will start at the new Child Redeemed Mission Primary School that just opened and will be supported through High School and usually somewhat beyond by MSM. The children’s extended family will be encouraged to be involved, especially as the kids become teenagers. Family connections are important and will be a foundation for the kids as they enter adulthood eventually.

Caring for these kids is possible by the prayers and support of donors. It cost about $50 per month on average to care for, clothe, feed, and educate a child. Thank you to those that are helping. Please pray about helping if this touches you.

Here are the entry bios for the 6 children that joined in January.

Living at CRM…..

Yes, CRM is a special place. Thank you. Praise the Lord!

Mission Accomplished – Trip 44 Uganda

The 6 of us returned home earlier this week after accomplishing our goals. The Child Redeemed Mission Primary School (CRMPS) has furniture and start up supplies, the electrical system was upgraded at Child Redeemed Mission Home (CRM), a solar power system and new playground was installed at Rock View Primary School (RVPS), a 3 Day discipleship class was held, and many smaller repairs and projects were completed.

We welcomed 7 new kids to CRM and brought a few hundred pounds of kids clothes and soccer gear.

All the kids are ready to start schools on Monday and CRMPS is ready to open February 3rd. I’ll share more about this in an upcoming post.

I wish everyone could visit CRM and the other MSM ministry efforts. They are special…warm loving blessings. Those of us that are sent by the rest of us are the fortunate ones. Thank you all for your prayers and support to make this work what it is. And…Thank God!!!

Trip 44 to Uganda is set for January 15, 2024

Six men will travel to the Child Redeemed Mission Home (CRM) in Kamuli, Uganda and serve all of the many ministry efforts established by Mission Servants Ministry in the area there. One main priority is to help insure that the new Bwase Redeemed Junior Elementary School (BRJS) is ready to open in early February. A 5 room class building and latrine are under construction. In addition to finishing the buildings…staffing, registration of pupils, curriculum materials, and all furniture needs to be completed.

It looks like there is a lot of work to be done but by the 2nd week of February there will be 3 classes of children learning instead of staying home.

These are some of the Projects we plan to conclude on the trip…

  • Leading a team of local carpenters to build 35 tables, 60 benches, and other furniture for the new to open BRJS school.
  • Leading a team of carpenters to build 6 picnic tables for CRM dinner shelter.
  • Installing a water line and access tap from the main CRM water tank out to the BRJS school.
  • Installing 3 new solar panels into the CRM solar power grid.
  • Leading a team in moving a playground at RVPS and installing 6 Teeter Totters.
  • Several plumbing and electrical repair issues among the locations.

Human Service efforts…

  • Welcoming several new children to live at CRM.
  • Children’s activities and ministry.
  • Sharing in church and supporting community ministry.
  • Review and support the Home Schooling for challenged learners program.
  • Visit and support Nisaya Clinic in establishing a new maternity service.

Mission Support initiatives…

  • Support in establishing the initial staff, materials, and curriculum at BRJS.
  • Support in implementing the initial computerized student registration and ledger system at BRJS.
  • Transporting needed tools and supplies for all MSM efforts.
  • Review and support several current microloans to Kids and partner organizations.
  • Add to the CRM children and adult spiritual library.
  • Leave support for initiatives that will take place after the team departs and preparations for the next future trip.

I will continue to post regularly on this trip and progress of projects. Please pray for our protection, provisions, and planning. May God be honored.

While praying for us, if you are led to be part of it, please jump to more information on our website to find out how.

Merry Christmas and a blessed new year to you, Bob

PS. Here is a brief summary of what MSM did in 2024

2024 Quick Summary for Mission Servants Ministry

This is a quick post of sincere Gratitude and encouragement. 2024 was filled with amazing projects and efforts that lovingly and eternally impacted our target communities and children in Kenya and Uganda. Thank you for your prayers and support for these awesome things and for standing with us in eager service into 2025. Your funding is the sole means of meeting these levels of need. All I am reporting is accomplished on a roughly $250,000 budget per year. More information and how to support here…

MSM meets the complete needs of roughly 70 children at the two homes in Kenya and Uganda and higher education support for many more of among the older graduated children. Lord’s Servants Home (LSH) and Child Redeemed Mission Home (CRM). All workers employed are nationals. MSM also supports the children’s Primary and High schools through fees, projects, and other assistance.

3 Mission Trips were made to projects, homes, and schools in Kenya and Uganda. These are crucial to organize activities that go on year round, bring materials and serve in ways not available in country, train and encourage, and love the children and people in our sponsored homes, schools, and communities.

11 Community Clean Water Access Projects were completed in Kenya near the LSH home. Typically these involve securing a shallow well site from contamination and installing a closed hand pump to provide clean access to at least 100 families, often more than 200 per site.

A security fence was completed around Rock View Primary School (RVPS). This provides important security for the school property and boarding Children.

A new Kitchen was built and completed at RVPS allowing for growth at the school up to 500 kids and a more efficient cooking.

A new Junior Elementary School was birthed. The Bwase Redeemed Junior School (BRJS) is under construction and will open in February of 2025 to serve the community near CRM. Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 will open. This will allow small kids who can’t reach the far off schools to get a quality educational start and twice daily meals.

Assisted a new medical clinic, The Nisaya Clinic start up in a small trading center near to the RVPS school to serve people previously needing to travel over 15 miles to find health services. Support, technical assistance and loans have allowed them to obtain lab equipment and set up a maternity ward.

Established a unique Home Schooling intervention program for 11 slow learning children from the CRM Home. This will help insure kids are not getting left behind educationally. 2 new Children joined the CRM home.

Kingdom work is a priority by encouraging and partnering with the local churches, Bwase Redeemed Church and Lyavo Bible Church. Churches have been planted, Widows have been served, Bedding provided for kids, People are being Baptized, a local Witch has found Jesus and burned his witch tools. The Teso People Group Evangelism teams were supported through technical equipment and training.

What is planned in 2025?…Open the BRJS school, 2 Trips in Jan., more community projects, new children join CRM, and see our supported children grow into loving, healthy, educated, motivated, and productive citizens. We are thankful for your prayers and support, whether monthly or one time. They are answers to our prayers and necessary to our work.

Thank you very much and may God bless your Christmas and New Year,

Bob Hillebrand
