Trip #16, Kenya and Uganda, Update 1

Our Kenya team is all on site.  Most of them took a wildlife tour on the way to the orphanage.  They are all at the LSH orphanage now, enjoying being with the kids, beginning their projects, and preparing for a 3 day medical mission outreach to the community beginning Monday.

Amie, our Canadian Mountie, organized and supervised the construction of a new bridge over a muddy creek and repair of 2 other bridges.  These bridges serve the community by allowing foot traffic easily to the LSA school and to the fresh water supply the LSH offers the community.  Several community men participated in the effort.  We firmly believe that people won’t care about what you want to tell them until they see what you care about.  The bridge work and up coming medical outreach may help someone hear and believe the good news of the Gospel this week.

Our Ugandan team was to leave Charlotte, NC today but all flights have been cancelled due to winter storm Jonas.  They are rescheduled to depart on Monday.

Watch for future updates.

New Lord’s Servants Academy #2….Finished!

After breaking ground in August and only 3 months of work, the building is finished and ready for a January opening of the school year and new 6th grade class.

The first use of this building however, in mid January, prior to school opening, will be as community medical clinic as part of a 3 day outreach to love the Lyavo, Kenya community with screenings, general treatments, and medicine.  This is a primary project of our team of 8 people leaving the US in early January.

Thank you for your prayers and help and join us in praising God.  In broad terms, a miracle is…God acting.  This community would never be able to raise up a school.  God acted and we got to be part of it.  I love it!

New Lord’s Servants Academy #2….October Update

With a little over 2 months after breaking ground, we are making great progress and we are well prepared to meet the January opening of the school year and new 6th grade class.  This is an amazingly short timetable.  Painting, windows, indoor prep, and furniture is needed yet.

The first use of this building however, in mid January, prior to school opening, will be as community medical clinic as part of a 3 day mission trip effort to love the Lyavo, Kenya community with screenings, general treatments, and medicine.

Funding is still a need as we trust God to provide the remaining needed funds of over $10,000.  Please pray about helping with this and join us in praising God.

August trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 10

Completing the new Dining Hall / Kitchen / Church building was our primary project focus.  This building was started in March and is 98% completed by the contractor.  We could not install the cooking equipment and will do that on our next trip in January.  They will still cook in the temporary kitchen but the building is very functional for eating, meeting, playing, and worshiping.  We did several things to make it nice….

August trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 8

We have wrapped up our time at the Lord’s Servants Home and will travel all day tomorrow to the Stream of Hope Home in Uganda. This was a great visit. We saw the LSA #2 building get under way, implemented several improvements to the home, added to the playground, and spent a lot of time with the kids. Thanks for your prayers. Updates may be fewer from Uganda since the Internet is not as accessible for us there.

Just happy.....
