Completing the new Dining Hall / Kitchen / Church building was our primary project focus. This building was started in March and is 98% completed by the contractor. We could not install the cooking equipment and will do that on our next trip in January. They will still cook in the temporary kitchen but the building is very functional for eating, meeting, playing, and worshiping. We did several things to make it nice….

The Dining Hall is in the background. The boys dorm to the left. The open space to the right is for the future girls dorm.

Here’s Pastor Moses, who joined us from Kenya, teaching and directing the kids in the art of concrete work. We added walkways between the buildings.

Installed gutters and rain collection tanks on both sides of the Dining Hall as well as the boys dorm. Collecting water reduces mud and is used for cleaning.

The boys “helping” John install the LED Strip lights in the Dining Hall. The lights are powered by solar charged batteries.

Kathy and her church purchased 100 more plastic chairs for needed capacity for the church. Nobody thought I could carry them all on the Isuzu 🙂
Next post…medical improvements for SOH.
