Trip #16, Kenya and Uganda, Update 1

Our Kenya team is all on site.  Most of them took a wildlife tour on the way to the orphanage.  They are all at the LSH orphanage now, enjoying being with the kids, beginning their projects, and preparing for a 3 day medical mission outreach to the community beginning Monday.

Amie, our Canadian Mountie, organized and supervised the construction of a new bridge over a muddy creek and repair of 2 other bridges.  These bridges serve the community by allowing foot traffic easily to the LSA school and to the fresh water supply the LSH offers the community.  Several community men participated in the effort.  We firmly believe that people won’t care about what you want to tell them until they see what you care about.  The bridge work and up coming medical outreach may help someone hear and believe the good news of the Gospel this week.

Our Ugandan team was to leave Charlotte, NC today but all flights have been cancelled due to winter storm Jonas.  They are rescheduled to depart on Monday.

Watch for future updates.

Trip #16 to Kenya and Uganda today.

A large team of 13 people including a Royal Canadian Mounted Policewoman, a couple from Iowa, and several from Charlotte, NC will meet first at the Lord’s Servants Home in Kenya and then Stream of Hope Home in Uganda.  This is Mission Servants Ministry’s largest and one of the most ambitious trips yet.

Half of the team will be focused on LSH and will host a 3 day Medical Clinic at the new LSA school building to serve an expected 500+ people from the community.  They also plan to build a bridge for the community over a muddy place on a main path, run water to the school, several smaller projects, and deliver a multi session Bible and craft class to the entire population of the LSA school, 120+ kids.

The team at SOH in Uganda will finish and open the new kitchen, build a playground shelter, install a generator to the well to improve water supply, and many smaller projects and activities for the kids.

The total trip will span the next 3 weeks except for one team member who will remain and serve for another month.  We will be bringing updates.  Please join us in praying for these people for safety, health, guidance, and opportunities to share Christ’s love.

New Lord’s Servants Academy #2….October Update

With a little over 2 months after breaking ground, we are making great progress and we are well prepared to meet the January opening of the school year and new 6th grade class.  This is an amazingly short timetable.  Painting, windows, indoor prep, and furniture is needed yet.

The first use of this building however, in mid January, prior to school opening, will be as community medical clinic as part of a 3 day mission trip effort to love the Lyavo, Kenya community with screenings, general treatments, and medicine.

Funding is still a need as we trust God to provide the remaining needed funds of over $10,000.  Please pray about helping with this and join us in praising God.

New Lord’s Servants Academy Building #2 update…

We broke ground on this building only a month ago, during our visit to LSH in Kitale, Kenya.  This new building which doubles the capacity of our current 4 room building is necessary as we have expanded LSA to K-5 and wil further expand to include 6th grade in January.  LSA has proven to be a blessing to the community that needs quality, affordable primary school options.

Progress is very fast with MSM projects as you can see in these sequence photos.  Funding is a need as we trust God to provide the remaining half or $20,000 of the needed funds.  Please pray about helping with this.

August trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 8

We have wrapped up our time at the Lord’s Servants Home and will travel all day tomorrow to the Stream of Hope Home in Uganda. This was a great visit. We saw the LSA #2 building get under way, implemented several improvements to the home, added to the playground, and spent a lot of time with the kids. Thanks for your prayers. Updates may be fewer from Uganda since the Internet is not as accessible for us there.

Just happy.....
