August Trip to Kenya and Uganda

John and I leave on Wednesday to begin what is the 15th separate trip to support Mission Servants Ministry’s orphanages in Kenya and Uganda since 2006.  John and I will spend 2 weeks at Lord’s Servant Home in Kenya then travel to Stream of Hope Home in Uganda, meeting Kathy and Darlene.  They are making their first trip but were instrumental in the founding of MSM’s involvement with SOH.

I have not been to LSH in over a year.  I missed these guys.  We have lots of projects to complete and organizational plans to implement.  Please keep looking out for my blog posts and keep us in your prayers.

SOH Dining Hall nearing completion

The windows and doors are in and final cement work on the walls is being applied.  Painting will follow.  I am bringing and electrical distribution panel, wiring, and LED strip lighting with me on our trip later this month.  Our plan is to bring power by wire from the solar charging system on the main house and have lights in the kitchen and dining areas.

Since the Stream of Hope Home is located on the equator it gets dark before 7:00 pm each night.  Being able to eat, study, and play in a lighted building is a huge blessing.

It will be the rainy and muddy season when I will be there next month, I know that I will appreciate the building.  We will also work on installing the wood cookers, work tables, and shelving to make it a functional kitchen.  Thank you to everyone supporting this project.

Next Trip….August, 2015…..Kenya and Uganda

Hugs always appreciated.

The next Mission Servants Ministry trip to Africa will be this August.  The itinerary is split between Kenya and Uganda.  The plan is to arrive in Kenya at the beginning of August, serve 2 weeks at the Lord’s Servants Home and Academy the travel to Uganda for the last 2 weeks of August serving at the Stream of Hope Home.

I will be there during the whole trip and hopefully be joined by team members for portions of the trip, some to Kenya, some to Uganda, and some to both.

The time in Kenya will be small project and child and community relationship oriented and will depend on the available team members.  The time in Uganda will involve projects to equip, furnish, and light the new kitchen and dining hall building.  Smaller projects and child activities will be plentiful.

Please pray about joining us.  The cost will be about $2,500 and we are flexible on time.  Contact me by email, or facebook.

SOH Kitchen / Dining Hall Under Roof

This building construction is moving at a rapid pace.  Now that the roof is on, work can continue even with some rain.  This structure that will house dining, playing, after dark activities, church, and fellowship is so important.  Praise God for providing this.  See what happened to the temporary structure in a recent rain storm.

Trip for 15 to serve at the Kenyan and Ugandan Orphanages

Mission Servants has a large and ambitious trip about to commence to serve at the LSH home in Kenya and the SOH home in Uganda.  15 members will leave the US in 3 teams from 3 different places and coordinate in Africa.  One team working exclusively at LSH, one exclusively at SOH, and one team working at LSH then traveling to SOH.  This is the 15th Mission Servant Ministry trip and a complicated one so we are requesting constant prayer for safety, logistics, and planning wisdom.  The first team leaves on January 17th, the 2nd and 3rd teams on the 22nd and 29th.

We have a number of plans besides connecting with and loving on the 106 children at the two homes, 87 kids at the Lord’s Servants Academy, almost 20 workers at all the facilities, and hundreds of people at 4 affiliated churches.  We are bringing almost 2,000 pounds of tools, books, sewing machines, Bibles, clothing, lighting components, balls, and goodies.  In Nairobi before driving to the LSH in western Kenya, tools and supplies to improve the homes will be purchased.

Our big projects include: Completing the living touches to the LSH Guest House (lighting, plumbing, cabinetry, curtains) which will allow longer term mission trips and missionary stays.  Installing lighting, curtains, and shelving in the new SOH Boys Dorm.  Launch the project for the new SOH Kitchen/Dining Hall/Utility building.  Numerous smaller projects to improve the facilities and lives of the kids will be done at all facilities.  Medical checking and eye exams will be provided.

It will be exciting.  Please look out for our blog and Facebook posts.  Thank you for your prayers and support!
