August trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 8

We have wrapped up our time at the Lord’s Servants Home and will travel all day tomorrow to the Stream of Hope Home in Uganda. This was a great visit. We saw the LSA #2 building get under way, implemented several improvements to the home, added to the playground, and spent a lot of time with the kids. Thanks for your prayers. Updates may be fewer from Uganda since the Internet is not as accessible for us there.

August Trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 4

Here are some photos of today’s activities. Many of the High School kids are home on break today. All is well.

Next Trip….August, 2015…..Kenya and Uganda

Hugs always appreciated.

The next Mission Servants Ministry trip to Africa will be this August. The itinerary is split between Kenya and Uganda. The plan is to arrive in Kenya at the beginning of August, serve 2 weeks at the Lord’s Servants Home and Academy the travel to Uganda for the last 2 weeks of August serving at the Stream of Hope Home.

I will be there during the whole trip and hopefully be joined by team members for portions of the trip, some to Kenya, some to Uganda, and some to both.

The time in Kenya will be small project and child and community relationship oriented and will depend on the available team members. The time in Uganda will involve projects to equip, furnish, and light the new kitchen and dining hall building. Smaller projects and child activities will be plentiful.

Guest House at LSH Home

A very good problem has come up at The Lord’s Servants Home…..Many visitors wanting to serve the children and community. A Kenyan law is also threatened to be enforced, further pressing this issue….visitors must sleep in a building separated from the children. A single donor providing funds outside the operating budget and fundraising of Mission Servants helped us solve this challenge.

The old original, temporary (yet 40 year old) church structure was torn down and a Guest House constructed inside the LSH compound. This building will allow more visitors to stay a longer period, even months. It has 4 bedrooms, a kitchenette, great room, porch, indoor toilet, shower with hot water, a septic tank,and electricity. It is very comfortable and can house up to 16 people.

In addition to a growing number of Mission Group trips (3 in 2014) several long term volunteers have spent as many as 4 months serving in the LS Academy, kids at LSH, and the nearby community. We believe in God for this to continue as a blessing to the community and are thankful for the Guest House.
