August trip to Kenya and Uganda….Update 9

Thanks and praise to God, we have been home from our 4 week trip long enough to get settled back.  I was not able to post updates from Uganda due to only having internet in town.  Some exciting things happed during our time at Stream of Hope Home which the next few updates will show.  Thank you for your support and prayers, which without would have made a useless trip.

A simple way to love on people. Fit and give reading glasses so they can read again. I had 50 pair with me and it was exactly enough.

We dedicated the new Dining Hall / Church building and packed it for Sunday service. Kathy purchased 100 plastic chairs for the needed seating capacity. What a great building for a church!

We traveled 22 km to the Nile river after service and baptized 55 people, roughly half were SOH children. This was one of my favorite days.

John and I took the oldest boys on a leadership and prayer excursion to the top of a granite hill that is still used in witchcraft practices including child sacrifice. Reportedly inhabited by demons and local superstition. We discussed the power of the Holy Spirit in us, why we have no reason to fear, and prayed for the community. These boys will become team leaders of groups of younger boys at the Home.

The superstition is that demons will trip you on the way down if you pray.

We however, serve a loving Jesus Christ. We were protected, provided for, and directed all through the trip.

In the next few posts, I’ll cover the new Dining Hall building and the projects we completed.

August trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 8

We have wrapped up our time at the Lord’s Servants Home and will travel all day tomorrow to the Stream of Hope Home in Uganda. This was a great visit. We saw the LSA #2 building get under way, implemented several improvements to the home, added to the playground, and spent a lot of time with the kids. Thanks for your prayers. Updates may be fewer from Uganda since the Internet is not as accessible for us there.

Just happy.....

August Trip to Kenya and Uganda… Update 7

It’s been a good day.  Took all the kids to the Kitale Museum nature park.  They are on school break and I’ve enjoyed being around them so much.  Tomorrow is our last day here already.
