Trip 25 – Kenya, Update 1

From Team Leader Tony Yoder

We arrived on the 24th. The non-stop flight from JFK to Nairobi was great. We had a wonderful Ethiopian meal with Jackson our driver, his wife and a missionary couple with Avant Ministries in Nairobi that evening. Our flight to Kitale on Friday was good and we arrived to a joyous welcome of singing and dancing by over 100 kids. We jumped right in to work. Saturday we went to the High School and had a wonderful time with the LSH kids that were there as well. We also had devotions with the 10 children that were just starting their 9th grade year. Sunday three of us went to church here at LSH and two of us went to Kitale Community Chapel. The services were excellent and pastors are eager for teachers or trainers to come work with them. Monday and Tuesday we have been going full blast:

The team visited Mercy and her family.  She had her leg amputated a few months ago due to severe bone cancer and is finishing up her chemo treatment.  This was sponsored by MSM.  Mercy is a beautiful and promising High School student and one of 12 in her family that could not afford to treat her cancer.

The big project starts tomorrow. We begin to work on water tank repairs and new chlorinator installation.

Please pray for us. We have stockpiled water in 4 tanks around the compound in case we end up without water for a few days while working on the water tank project. If things go smoothly (they seldom do) we should have the water back on tomorrow night.

Thank you! Happy New Year!

This is just a short Thank You for your prayers, encouragement, and support for the blessings that MSM was able to be part of in 2018 to the children and communities in Uganda and Kenya at the Child Redeemed Mission Home, Promise Primary, and Lord’s Servants Home.  It was a full and successful year moving over 300 kids toward a positive future while giving Jesus Christ the glory in the communities.  MSM simply passes on the blessings it is brought by you all.  We are not sponsored or supported by any other organization, just a lot of loving individuals.

Please pray for the two MSM teams that are going to serve at the sites in January.  God’s provisions, plans, and protection are needed.  If you feel led to be involved and can help with a year end donation, it will be greatly appreciated and used well.  Either check or PayPal works.  Thank you!

Here are some of the kids wearing their Christmas blessings this year…..

Trip 24 – LSH Home Kenya

Greg and I returned recently from visiting the Lord’s Servants Home (LSH) in Kitale, Kenya.  It has been some time since our last visit.  Our goals on this trip were to assess the effectiveness of the management, condition of the home, school, and children, and to fortify communications and objectives for the education and future of the Children that MSM has sponsored over the years.  We found everyone doing well and preparing to start Term III of this school year.  I specifically enjoyed meeting with the older kids who have finished High School and was encouraged with their progress….many of them are in college courses like Kenny in Nursing School and some working jobs, including Brenda who is now a teacher at the school.  Others are in the planning stages of taking steps toward their future education and profession.

The Lord’s Ministries (TLM) is the Kenyan ministry that operates the LSH and school.  Since our last visit, TLM has changed staff, assumed responsibility for operation funding, and has refocused on ministry objectives.  This was all evident and positive.

The partnership status with TLM involves that MSM provide for school fees and school supplies while TLM provide all other support and funding such as salaries, food, medical, and utilities.  This trip was an unannounced visit and we verified that TLM has been acting in good faith to support the children in a healthy manner, operating the home and school as well as possible, and using the infrastructure in a responsible way.  MSM will continue with this partnership arrangement which focuses on…..

  • Assisting through funding the kids education in an accountable way.
  • Trips to assist with the repair of the buildings and assets used to care for the children.
  • Encourage and bless them in a Gospel way.

We supported these objectives on this trip by paying school fees, shopping for school supplies the older kids need, buying new mattresses and bedding, and making plans for an infrastructure and spiritual support trip in 2019.

Thank you for your support of MSM on behalf of these children.  It has made a difference in their lives.  Enjoy some current photos.

Trip 23 – CRM Home Uganda. Love Exchange United

One rewarding thing about being in the “Working for God” business is networking with and meeting such a variety of people that are working out their heart’s calling and serving in their own way.  Trip 22 in June was Robyn and her family of 6 kids, visiting and serving in the country of their two adopted children.  This trip includes 3 awesome young people representing Love Exchange United.  Ve’Neesha, Mariah, and Nathanael arrived in mid July.  Ve’Neesha will be leaving in early October, while the other two spent 6 weeks there.

Serving on a mission trip is about loving others, putting their needs out front, and showing that love in a way unique to how God has blessed you and formed your heart.  Mariah just loved the children and enriched their lives with her fellowship.  The same for Ve’Neesha, founder of Love Exchange United, with the addition that she has a heart for the Children in a nearby village of Kuslwe and the Rock View Primary School….lobbying for their needs and education and provided the purchase of dozens of mattresses, school supplies, and fees.  Nathanael shared his gift of music and worship with the kids, schools, and communities and helped provide some musical instruments…guitar and keyboard for CRM.  He and the kids wrote and recorded a number of original songs.  These folks have shared their greatest gifts, their love, talents, and time.   Thank you.
