The Kitchen and Dining Hall building is progressing rapidly and all are excited. In the last few weeks it has progressed from footer trenches to being ready for the ring beam. The ring beam is a concrete ring, reinforced with steel that bands the building and walls above the doors and windows, we would call it a “Header”. The ring beam can be seen in the brick walls of the building in the background.

Trip for 15 to serve at the Kenyan and Ugandan Orphanages
Mission Servants has a large and ambitious trip about to commence to serve at the LSH home in Kenya and the SOH home in Uganda. 15 members will leave the US in 3 teams from 3 different places and coordinate in Africa. One team working exclusively at LSH, one exclusively at SOH, and one team working at LSH then traveling to SOH. This is the 15th Mission Servant Ministry trip and a complicated one so we are requesting constant prayer for safety, logistics, and planning wisdom. The first team leaves on January 17th, the 2nd and 3rd teams on the 22nd and 29th.
We have a number of plans besides connecting with and loving on the 106 children at the two homes, 87 kids at the Lord’s Servants Academy, almost 20 workers at all the facilities, and hundreds of people at 4 affiliated churches. We are bringing almost 2,000 pounds of tools, books, sewing machines, Bibles, clothing, lighting components, balls, and goodies. In Nairobi before driving to the LSH in western Kenya, tools and supplies to improve the homes will be purchased.
Our big projects include: Completing the living touches to the LSH Guest House (lighting, plumbing, cabinetry, curtains) which will allow longer term mission trips and missionary stays. Installing lighting, curtains, and shelving in the new SOH Boys Dorm. Launch the project for the new SOH Kitchen/Dining Hall/Utility building. Numerous smaller projects to improve the facilities and lives of the kids will be done at all facilities. Medical checking and eye exams will be provided.
It will be exciting. Please look out for our blog and Facebook posts. Thank you for your prayers and support!
SOH Uganda Update New Boys Dorm nearly finished
Lacking only some internal painting…the boys will be moving in very shortly. (The outside painting is finished but not shown in these photos). The rooms for six boys each has louvered glass windows, bug screens, and ceilings. This will be Heaven on earth for the boys who may have been on the streets and have been staying in a rented warehouse until this time. Praise God.
Guest House at LSH Home
A very good problem has come up at The Lord’s Servants Home…..Many visitors wanting to serve the children and community. A Kenyan law is also threatened to be enforced, further pressing this issue….visitors must sleep in a building separated from the children. A single donor providing funds outside the operating budget and fundraising of Mission Servants helped us solve this challenge.
The old original, temporary (yet 40 year old) church structure was torn down and a Guest House constructed inside the LSH compound. This building will allow more visitors to stay a longer period, even months. It has 4 bedrooms, a kitchenette, great room, porch, indoor toilet, shower with hot water, a septic tank, and electricity. It is very comfortable and can house up to 16 people.
In addition to a growing number of Mission Group trips (3 in 2014) several long term volunteers have spent as many as 4 months serving in the LS Academy, kids at LSH, and the nearby community. We believe in God for this to continue as a blessing to the community and are thankful for the Guest House.
Pray about joining us on a trip!!!
Pushing Back the Darkness…SOH Uganda Update #4…New Boys Dorm
The 20 boys of Stream of Hope Home currently sleep in two rented rooms in the trading center along the road a little over a mile from the SOH property. A 10 room structure with capacity for 30 boys, a caretaker family, an office, and a library is being pushed along so the boys can live with the rest of the children in safety and cut about 3 miles of walking per day from their schedule. We plan for completion and move in by the end of November. You can imagine how excited the boys are to have a permanent home. The building was underway during our trip in August. Current photos are below.
